Auckland Folk Festival returns in 2023 for its 50th birthday celebration
The 50th Auckland Folk Festival will bring together a unique line up of creative and talented local and international artists for a very special 3-day celebration from January 27 - 30.

After two years of restrictions, and a brief hiatus in 2022 due to Covid-19, they are celebrating their return with a fabulous line up over Auckland Anniversary weekend at The Kumeu Showgrounds. The exciting lineup of international and local acts includes Edinburgh-based The Jellyman’s Daughter, gracing New Zealand stages for the first time.

Māori singer and songwriter Theia (Waikato-Tainui, Ngāti Tīpa) whose critically acclaimed debut album has seen her receive accolades including nominations at the Rolling Stone Awards, Aotearoa Music Awards, and APRA Silver Scrolls will also be performing at the Auckland Folk Festival.

From the United States is Sneaky Bones (Matthew Bean); from Ireland, acclaimed fiddle player Manus McGuires and from Australia We Mavericks, known for their uniquely gritty, evocative songs. Also returning from overseas The Frank Burkitt Band and T-Bone.

These all join a veritable feast of exceptional local acts from Aotearoa including Wheel of Experience, Albi & The Wolves, Criu, Tui Mamaki, Monty Bevins, Alpaca Social Club, Across the Great Divide, Rough Town and Butter Wouldn’t Melt.
