This is what the aurora lights look like from space.

Astronauts have captured incredible footage of the green-hued aurora lights from space and made them into Vine videos that are entirely entrancing.

Captured from the International Space Station, the aurora – the colours of which are caused by charged particles from the sun interacting with atoms in the upper atmosphere – began with a burst of energy from the sun.

The effect is mesmerising.
