The Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, over Oresund, the strait that separates Denmark and Sweden.

This is what the aurora lights look like from space.

Astronauts captured amazing footage of the Aurora lights

Astronauts have captured incredible footage of the green-hued aurora lights from space and made them into Vine videos that are entirely entrancing.

Captured from the International Space Station, the aurora – the colours of which are caused by charged particles from the sun interacting with atoms in the upper atmosphere – began with a burst of energy from the sun.

The effect is mesmerising.
