Raising money for Kindness Collective, the auction will include artists such as Max Gimblett, John Pule, Hugo Koha Lindsay, Karl Maughan, Sara Hughes, Dick Frizzell and Grace Wright.
Each work is a uniform size of 300 x 400mm and all have been created specifically for the auction.
Funds raised will go towards Kindness Collective’s Christmas Joy Store, which is New Zealand’s first social toy store. The Joy Store invites referred parents and caregivers to choose gifts and treats for their children they know they’ll love, off the shelves, shopping for free.
To date, Kindness Collective has brought Christmas joy to more than 42,675 children in need in 68 regions, cities and towns across the country.
Online viewing and bidding starts from 1 November on the Art+Object website.
The gallery auction will be held at 6.30pm, 7 November at Gow Langsford’s recently opened flagship space in Onehunga, with support from Art+Object and Studio Art Supplies.
Artist Max Gimblett says it’s a pleasure to contribute to an important cause in a place that holds meaning for him.
“The Kindness Collective’s work resonates deeply with my belief in generosity and community, and I’m honoured to support their efforts to uplift families and children across Aotearoa,” he says.
Fellow participating artist Grace Wright is proud to contribute her work to a cause that is helping bring positive change to families across Aotearoa.
“As a young artist, it’s inspiring to see art used as a way to uplift communities and make a real difference,” she says.
“Supporting women and children to thrive and succeed is something I am particularly passionate about.”
