‘Arrested Development’ star Jessica Walter dies
Emmy-winning actress Jessica Walter has died aged 80.

Walter died in her sleep in New York on Wednesday local time.

The American actress was best known for starring in Clint Eastwood’s thriller Play Misty for Me, and TV shows Arrested Development and Archer.

She won an Emmy in 1975 for her role in police drama series Amy Prentiss.

Walter’s daughter Brooke Bowman released a statement confirming the passing of her “beloved mom”.

“A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off,” Bowman said.

“While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”

20th Television released a statement following the news of her death praising her performance as scheming matriarch Lucille Bluth in Arrested Development.

“Jessica Walter’s spectacular turn as the devilish Lucille Bluth is one of the great comedic performances of television history, and we loved working with her as much as audiences loved her on Arrested Development,” read the statement.

“Our hearts go out to her family and friends, particularly her daughter, and our former colleague, Brooke. We know that heaven just got a whole lot funnier with Jessica now in residence.”
