Made with grapes from one place, Ara single estate wine aims to deliver more surprise, more excitement and more enjoyment. Fusing the time-honoured art of winemaking with fresh ideas, ARA amplify and refine the natural qualities of their remarkable Wairau Valley location. The result is a strikingly different Marlborough New Zealand experience.
Single Estate wines are a fusion of grapes sources from all areas of Ara’s single estate vineyards and considered it’s most complete expression, year on year delivering true consistency in terms of style, flavour and balance.
A lively, vibrant and pure expression of Marlborough Pinot Noir fruit with a lightness of minimal skin contact to allow the delicate fruit flavours to come through. This delicate yet opulent Pinot Noir Rosé delivers lush strawberyy, cream and ripe raspberry flavours that linger on the palate and are beautifully offset by a long finish. Ara Single Estate Pinot Noir Rosé is off-dry at 5.7grms per litre, beautifully vibrant with fruit intensity, without overt sweetness.
Harvest & Winemaking
This Pinot Noir Rosé has been crafted from the typical low yielding vines at ARA, which ensures the intense bright fruit flavours are bought to the forefront. The 2015 Pinot Noir grape harvest occurred early April, and took full advantage of the ideal dry, hot ripening conditions. This stunning vintage delivered large Pinot Noir berries and is showing exquisite varietal intensity on the palate. Fruit was de-stemmed but not crushed and transferred by gravity to tank for 2 days cold soak at ~8 C when the juice was drained away from the skins, followed by cold fermentation. Fermentation temperatures peaked at 12C to allow for all the bright red fruit intensity and flavour to be retained. The resulting vibrant and intensely fruit forward wine amply demonstrates the effects of a great vintage and an outstanding single vineyard site.
