While Royal watchers were hoping to sight Amal Clooney among the guests at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding on Friday, she was too busy standing up for the rights of women in the U.S.

On Friday, Amal Clooney headlined a Pennsylvania Conference For Women in Philadelphia where she criticised U.S. President, Donald Trump over his treatment of women.

More than 12,000 women were expected at the development day, which saw professionals such as human rights lawyer, Clooney, talking about their careers and leading seminars.

In a speech she she slammed President Trump for mocking Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony about Brett Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual assault from years ago.

Trump had acted out Ford’s uncertainty of events at a rally in Mississippi. “How did you get home? ‘I don’t remember.’ How did you get there? ‘I don’t remember.’ Where is the place? ‘I don’t remember.’ How many years ago was it? ‘I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know,’” he said.

“A president shouldn’t ridicule a woman who courageously comes forward to allege abuse,” she said, according to Philadelphia Magazine

“Survivors in any country deserve the chance to look their abusers in the eye and for history to record what has happened to them,” she continued per the Daily Mail

Wearing a sharp black button up dress and nude heels, she also cited the #MeToo movement calling it ‘a defining moment in the struggle for women’s rights’.

‘We are living through a moment of reckoning and a rebalancing of power. There is still much for us to do. Still, I am optimistic,’ she said.

While his wife was busy inspiring hundreds at the conference, George Clooney was delivering a speech of his own at Variety’s star-studded Power Of Women event in Los Angeles.

The Clooney’s were on the coveted Royal wedding invite list but did not attend in order to speak at the conferences.
