First-time parents George and Amal Clooney have welcomed twins, a boy and girl, with the actor joking he is “recovering well”.
Ella and Alexander were born on Tuesday morning, a spokesperson confirmed. “Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days,” Clooney’s publicist said in a statement on Tuesday.
A close friend of the 56-year-old actor told PEOPLE that George and his 39-year-old wife are “very happy” after the arrival of their twins.
“This is very good news. We’re very, very happy. George is going to be a great father of twins,” the source told the publication.
Sources confirmed in February 2017 that George and Amal, were expecting twins, a month after his wife was photographed with a suspected baby bump.
Later in February, George confirmed on French program Rencontres de Cinema. “We are really happy and really excited. It’s going to be an adventure.”
The Ocean’s Eleven actor also said the power couple had “sort of embraced it all” with “arms wide open”.
