Allbirds Britomart store is opening this week – here’s what you need to know.
It’s been five years since Allbirds founder Tim Brown had a game-changing idea: why not make a pair of shoes out of miraculous merino wool? Fast forward to 2019 and not only do Allbirds now sell shoes made out of a host of environmentally minded materials including merino, eucalyptus tree fibre and sugar cane, but the brand has also become one of the most lauded sustainably minded footwear companies in the world.
While Allbirds has been busy taking on the world, it’s time for local fans to celebrate as this week the brand is coming home as the very first New Zealand Allbirds store opens its doors. Allbirds Britomart will open on 15 August and we can’t wait to head down to Gore Street and take a look around.
With almost 150 square metres of space, you’ll be able to explore the entire Allbirds collection including the now world-famous Merino Wool Runners and Auckland inspired laces: Waiheke Island Teal, Light Path Magenta, and West Coast Black Sand.
The store will open at 10am Thursday 15 August and to celebrate Allbirds is hosting a coffee cart it Takutai Square from Thursday through to Sunday. Bring along your own keep-cup and the coffee is on Allbirds.
Allbirds Auckland opens at 5 Gore Street on 15 August. If you’re outside of Auckland you can visit their online store here.
