We all love the spectacle of a glamourous, over-the-top wedding. Lately, whether you’re a celebrity or not, many nuptials have turned into extravagant muti-day affairs, often in a far-flung destination, with wedding parties extending into double digits.
So it was refreshing to see pop singer Charlie XCX marrying her musician beau George Daniel, drummer for The 1975 in a low-key town-hall ceremony.
Spotted posing for photos on the steps of Hackney Town Hall, the star donned a short Vivienne Westwood corset dress with her signature wraparound sunglasses for the occasion while her new husband wore a slouchy double-breasted Armani suit.
Admittedly the pair are said to be having a second event in Italy, but it was a reminder simplicity is sweet and when it comes to weddings true love (and a celebrant) is all you really need.
