To mark Richie turning 39 on 21 September, Adele posted a series of hilarious snaps of the pair together as well as a video of Richie giving the singer a fright.
“I admire you and love you so much. You are the epitome of self preservation, self love and absolute savagery,” Adele wrote.

Adele has formed many close bonds with Hollywood stars despite mostly choosing to live a life out of the spotlight.
The star has a number of high-profile girlfriends from Tinseltown circles, including actresses Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone and Cameron Diaz.
