Estee Lauder Goes Perfume Shopping

It was announced today via Business Wire that Estee Lauder Companies Inc is to acquire irreverent New York perfume brand Le Labo.

Ever since this game-changing brand launched on the scene in 2006, it has shaken up the beauty industry. They have pioneered raw, industrial styling, bottles and packaging personalized to each customer, and fragrances exclusive to certain cities.

I met founders Fabrice Penot and Eddie Roschi at their London store when it first opened, and loved their cheeky desire to grab the fragrance industry by the ears and inject some humour, artistry and theatre into it.

Since then I have longed for outposts to be opened down under. Let’s hope the acquisition of Le Labo by Estee Lauder Companies will see Le Labo stores and City Exclusive scents being launched on these shores soon.

“We believe we/you should put away our modern tools and take the time to smell the roses along the way.” – Le Labo
