A Whole Festival Dedicated To Burrata Is On Its Way

A Whole Festival Dedicated To Burrata Is On Its Way
Say Cheese! If you love this decadent and delicious Italian Cheese, you'll want to keep this date free.

The very first festival devoted to burrata cheese will be held in Melbourne in October.

Acknowledging the rise in popularity of the fresh cheese balls with the soft stringy centre in recent years, the festival will be held night-market style with a range of vendors offering their unique take on the sharable dish.

A beautiful contrast in taste and textures, burrata is a traditional Italian cheese made from cow’s or buffalo milk which forms an outer shell of mozzarella. It is cut open to reveal a soft middle filled with fresh mozzarella curds and rich cream.

Often served with crusty bread and fresh accompaniments like tomato, figs and olive oil, its mild flavour makes it the perfect entree before a meal or as a bar snack with a glass of wine.

At the festival you’ll be able to try burrata in every manner you can think of, from sweet to tangy and savoury, or plan your own at home with ingredients bought from a dedicated marketplace.

A show kitchen will featured cooking demonstrations from top chefs and there’s a wine masterclass where you can learn the perfect pairing for the soft squishy cheese. Celebrating its heritage, live Italian music and an Italian Disco DJ will keep the cheesy celebration going well into the night.

Think you’re more dedicated to burrata than the rest? There’s a VIP section where you can enjoy an exclusive lounge with a dedicated bartender and all inclusive pizza bar.

Organised by Victoria cheesemakers That’s Amore Cheese, the festival will take place for one night only at South Melbourne Market on Thursday 30th October 2025.
