21 is the best-selling album of the 21st century

With sales of more than 31 million copies, Adele’s second studio album is still the best-selling record of the century.

The album received a record-tying six Grammy Awards

At the 2012 Grammys, Adele took home six awards for 21, tying with Beyonce for the most Grammy wins in one night.

Beyonce is also one of Adele’s favourite singers – she has said that “the other artists who mean that much to me are all dead”.

She had famous classmates

Adele attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology, and was a classmate of Leona Lewis and Jessie J.

Other graduates of the performing arts high school include Amy Winehouse and Kate Nash.

She suffers from stage fright

She’s known for her composure on stage, but Adele still suffers from stage fright.

She says she sometimes has panic attacks before shows and throws up backstage.

Adele penned what would become her first single, ‘Hometown Glory’ in just 10 minutes when she was a teenager.

She plays several instruments

Adele played the clarinet as a teen and she can play guitar, piano and drums.
