5 minutes with Maggie Gyllenhaal
Actor Maggie Gyllenhaal speaks exclusively to MiNDFOOD about her role in BBC2’s suspenseful new spy drama, The Honourable Woman.

Maggie Gyllenhaal stars in the upcoming BBC mini-series The Honourable Woman, in which she plays Nessa Stein, a woman who inherits her father’s arms business while being instrumental in trying to bridge reconciliation between the Israeli and Palestinian conflict. Despite the serious premise of this highly compelling drama, The Honourable Woman is being heralded as ‘the most stylish show on TV’ due to an impressive array of enviable fashion-forward outfits worn by Gyllenhaal.  And offscreen, this born and bred New Yorker is somewhat of a style icon herself.

“My fashion taste changes all the time.  I’m 36 years old now and for me, I think people regard different things as sexy and beautiful when you are different ages.  For example, my husband gave me a pair of leather pants for Christmas last year, and I was like, ‘What?  Leather pants?’  But if my husband says, ‘I want to see my wife in these pants,’ then I’m going to wear them!”

It’s a brave man who would bestow such a pair of unforgiving trousers on his beloved. “Yes, “she agrees. “They fit, thank God.  Can you imagine if he bought them and I couldn’t get them on?” She laughs.  “He got the right size and I’ve worn them on the red carpet.  He did well.”
