2021 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade

What: The biggest night on the LGBTQI+ calendar is almost here, with Sydney’s Mardi Gras Parade returning for 2021.

This year, the vibrant celebration is taking place at the Sydney Cricket Ground, with visitors treated to the dazzling costuming, cheeky satire and limitless joy the Parade has become known for.

A stadium crowd will cheer on as 5,000 marchers, across 120 parade entries, take to the field in a vibrant display of diversity and unity.

This year’s Mardi Gras theme is RISE, a call to action that now is the time to rise again through love, compassion, respect and understanding.

The theme is a poignant message following the challenge and hardship of 2020, with Parade entries incorporating it into their final concepts.

Those who can’t be at the parade in person will be able to view it on SBS, plus COVID-Safe Mardi Gras parties are taking place around Australia.

Where: Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) + live broadcast on SBS
