10 of the best new options for National Lipstick Day

By MiNDFOOD

Best new Lipsticks for 2023 Lipstick Day
For lipstick lovers, every day is National Lipstick Day. For the rest of us, it comes around once a year. Check out these great options to dress up your lips.

Whether there there deserves to be a national day of recognition for lipstick is not the point.

One exists, and according to nationaldaycalendar.com and a plethora of cosmetics companies, that day each year is July 29th.

Of course with the challenges in the world and those that exist for all of us on a day to day basis, it’s certainly nice to have a fun day of celebration for those of us that enjoy wearing lipstick.

It’s not entirely clear where the origins of the day came from either. Some suggest beauty blogger and cosmetics company founder Huda Kattan helped establish the day to acknowledge the history of one beauty industry’s oldest and most beloved cosmetic products. According to an interview with Bustle.com, Kattan says she actually purchased the rights to the day.

“”I purchased the rights to National Lipstick Day in 2016 to celebrate the launch of our Liquid Mattes,” Kattan told Bustle. “Since then, we have been expanding our lip collection with new shades, [and] colour combinations.”

However that hasn’t stopped other brands from marking the day and as each year passes, noise and celebration, mainly in the form of promotions by cosmetic companies, seems to increase. For example, this year MAC Cosmetics is giving away a free lipstick with any purchase from 27th-30th of July.

Not an actual holiday – imagine that! – the only consensus seems to be on how to celebrate. That is, by buying a new shade of lipstick or wearing an old favourite.

So without further ado, below we provide this year’s inspiration with some of the best new lipstick formulas on shelves.

Each comes in a far wider array of colours than what you see here. Although if you’re unsure, a classic red or mauve-y nude are classic options that will last well beyond this year’s celebration.
