Sydney in September – The Indie Tasting

The first of its kind in Australia, The Indie Tasting, is inviting all spirit enthusiasts and cocktail lovers to join together in celebrating the indie spirits industry.

Usually reserved for bartenders and the hospitality industry, the independent spirit showcase is opening its doors to the public for the very first time.

Held at Frankie’s Pizza in Sydney on Sunday 18 September, this event is offering an unparalleled opportunity to uncover boutique brands and interesting spirits.

You will have the ability to taste, talk, learn and even purchase a bottle or two for your home collection.

Sample selections from over 40 suppliers and 120 boutique spirits as well as sit in on masterclasses that will help you get the most out of your home bar collection.

Indie Tasting founder, David Spanton, shares, “These definitely aren’t your run-of-the-mill bottleshop offerings. Many haven’t even made it to the bottleshop or backbar yet. Thanks to a boom in the local distilling industry, home grown Aussie spirits are making a big appearance. This showcase is about helping small brands get more visibility in today’s competitive market. And Sydney is the perfect city to host such an event with its thriving small bar scene and passionate bartending professionals and drinkers.”

Local brewing legends, the boys from Young Henry’s in Newtown, will be offering up samples of their Nightsweat Moonshine and Young Henry’s Noble Cut Gin. And likewise, Poor Tom’s Gin, made by two friends who started distilling in their kitchen in Marrickville, will be presenting their latest batch of top notch gin. You’ll be able to taste great stuff from brands like Applewood Distillery, a tiny little operation from the Adelaide Hills that produces a gin and an aperitif called Okar. One of their neighbours in SA, the Adelaide Hills Distillery, another boutique operation, will be releasing The Italian Bitter Orange Aperitif, The Gunnery Spiced Rum and 78˚ Gin to the Sydney market for the first time. The showcase will also feature international brands, including The Brothers Vilgalys Baltic Style spirits.

Tickets are $40 each and include all tastings and masterclasses.
