On Safari with John Rendall

By MiNDFOOD

John Rendall leads a 10-day safari to Kenya in honour of Christian the Lion, on MiNDFOOD.

In 1969 two Australian friends, John Rendall and Anthony ‘Ace’ Bourke walked into the exotic pet department of the Harrods store in London where they found a three-month-old lion club for sale. They left with a new flatmate – an animated and boisterous lion club they called Christian.

In October 2010 John Rendall, co-owner of Christian the lion and Trustee of the George Adamson Wildlife Preservation Trust, will escort an exclusive 10-day safari to Kenya in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the publication Born Free and his life with Christian.

The safari offers the unique opportunity to explore the area where George Adamson set Christian free, and where Christian was later reunited with John and Ace.

Highlights: Joy Adamson’s home on Lake Naivasha, Elsamere; Elsa’s Kopje Camp – where George and Joy rehabilitated Elsa; Kora National Park – where Christian was rehabilitated; Joy’s Camp – built on the site of Joy’s old home; and an optional three-day extension to the fabulous Masai Mara.

Departure date: October 10, 2010.

Price: USD$6160 standard 10-day safari per person, twin share; USD$8160 including three-day Masai Mara extension per person, twin share.
