Outside, the weather is descending towards winter, leaving us hiding from the rain and shivering from the cold. So take comfort in the kitchen, with these recipes that are bound to lift your mood, whatever the weather outside.

Brisket is a cheap cut of meat that lends itself to long, slow cooking at a low heat. Although this recipe calls for two and a half hours in the oven, if time is on your side, don’t be afraid to turn down the oven and leave this dish to cook longer for maximum depth of flavour.
