Macerated Berries

Macerated Berries
How to make macerated berries, the perfect christmas gift or quick dessert option.

Similar to marinating, but more like soaking, making macerated berries is a quick and easy solution to summer entertaining.

Makes 1 jar

2 cups of desired berries, sliced if needed

1-2 tbsps icing sugar

Juice of half a lemon

Combine all ingredients, stirring gently. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight, stirring occasionally.

For gifts, place in sanitised jar and seal. The macerated berries should keep for approximately three days refrigerated.

Once macerated to your desired level, use to top desserts like pavlova, eton mess, or even just drizzled over ice cream.
