Grandmother’s Chocolate-Fudge Dessert

Grandmother’s Chocolate-Fudge Dessert

Reader Recipe Competition. Sharon’s chocolicious dessert recipe, featuring PLAISTOWE chocolate, takes the prize.

Serves 8-10

200g PLAISTOWE 70% Cocoa Cooking Chocolate, broken 
into pieces

175g butter, cubed

120g brown sugar

100g nuts of choice, crushed

2 tbsp PLAISTOWE Dutch Processed Cocoa

1 tsp vanilla extract

pinch of salt

4 large eggs

150g self-raising flour

1 tbsp icing sugar

ice-cream or thickened cream,
to serve

1 Preheat oven to 180°C.

2 Grease and line a 20cm round cake pan with baking paper. Place chocolate in the bowl of a food processor. Add butter, brown sugar, nuts, cocoa, vanilla, and salt.

3 Blend until ingredients combine (there may still be chunks of chocolate). Pulse mixture. Add eggs and blend. Add flour and pulse to combine.

4 Pour mixture into prepared 
cake pan; bake for 20 minutes. 
Let cool in pan.

5 Turn out onto a serving plate and dust with icing sugar. Slice and serve with ice-cream or thickened cream.
