Beef Deep-Pan Pizza

Serves 6

Ingredients

1½ cups self-raising flour

2 tbsp butter

1 tsp sugar

½ tsp salt

¾ cup milk

1 tbsp oil

1 onion, sliced

2 garlic cloves, crushed

1 cup mushrooms, sliced

2-3 tsp horseradish cream, leftover

¼ cup pre-made tomato pizza  sauce or tomato paste

500g grated mozzarella

cheese or bocconcini slices

250g beef slices, leftover

1 tbsp basil, oregano or marjoram

Method

Preheat oven to 200°C. Lightly grease base and side of 25cm springform tin. Sift flour into bowl, rub in butter, stir in sugar and salt.

Using a knife, stir milk into flour mixture to form a soft sticky dough. Turn dough onto floured surface, knead lightly until smooth. Press dough evenly over base of the prepared tin.

Heat oil in pan on medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cook stirring, for 5 minutes. Add mushrooms and horseradish cream and continue to cook for a further 5 minutes.

Spread the pizza sauce over the dough, then sprinkle with a little grated mozzarella or bocconcini slices. Spread onion and mushroom mixture over cheese and arrange beef slices on top. Sprinkle fresh herbs over meat and top with remaining cheese.

Bake in the oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 180°C and bake for a further 15 minutes, or until cooked through.

Serve with extra leftover horseradish cream, fresh herbs and plenty of freshly ground black pepper.
