Students attempt new record for largest origami mosaic

Greek students fold thousands of pieces of paper in an effort to set a new Guinness World Record.

It took nearly nine hours and 18,000 students to create this owl mosaic. And fingers in Athens are crossed that judges will determine they have set a new Guinness World Record for the largest origami mosaic.

The project brought students together from across the Greek capital to fold paper and form the 512 square meter image of an owl, which is the symbol of Athens.

According to the Guinness World Records website, the last record in 2013 was set in Portugal, for a mosaic that measured nearly 452 square meters, made of paper houses.
