MiNDFOOD Festive House Tour
MiNDFOOD is Proud to Present the Festive Home Tour 2016 for The World Child Cancer Charitable Trust (WCCCT).

Join us on Friday, November 4, from 10am-4pm and visit 10 stunning Auckland  homes decorated in creative Christmas themes while enjoying delicious food
prepared by award-winning celebrity chefs.

MiNDFOOD is proud to partner with The World Child Cancer Charitable Trust (WCCCT) to raise awareness for children with cancer in the South Pacific. Prior to 2006 only 50 percent of children with cancer in Tonga, Fiji and Samoa were being diagnosed annually, the survival rate was zero.

In collaboration with Auckland’s Starship Blood and Cancer Centre and the Children’s Haematology Oncology Centre in Christchurch, The World Child Cancer Charitable Trust (WCCCT) works with doctors in the Pacific Islands to share the knowledge and procedures which have contributed to a 80% survival rate in New Zealand. The aim is to be able to deliver the majority of care in the child’s own country as opposed to bringing them to New Zealand for treatment.

We are planning a wonderful charity day to raise money for the WCCCT and give you the chance to visit an array of beautiful Auckland homes and meet interesting New Zealanders and celebrity chefs giving their hand to help this worthwhile cause.

From iconic villas through to elegant character properties and modern townhouses, a unique collection of homes will open their doors to the public for the first time in an aspirational showcase event for Christmas.

Ten stunning Auckland properties, each decorated with a different yuletide theme, will give unprecedented access in support of The World Child Cancer Charitable Trust (TWCCCT). The MiNDFOOD Festive Home Tour will take place on Friday, November 4.

Tour-goers will be able to enjoy food made by a host of well-known chefs and there will be a range of Christmas adornments, cakes and sought-after goodie bags for sale to help raise funds for The World Child Cancer Charitable Trust.

The Trust collaborates with New Zealand-based medical services to treat children from the South Pacific who are living with cancer. One hundred percent of the sales from the event goes to the charity to help improve survival rates in the Islands and reduce the need for children to travel to New Zealand for treatment.

“The charity is thrilled with the gorgeous selection of homes we have on offer, thanks to generous New Zealanders making the public welcome so we can help fund medical treatment in the Pacific,” TWCCCT Trustee Penny Thompson says.

“This is a must-do event for people wanting inspiration for their own Christmas style. We have a captivating range of properties each being made over by creative homeowners and professional stylists alike.

The 10 homes are amongst the best in Epsom, Remuera, Newmarket, Grey Lynn and Ponsonby, and each home will feature in the December issue of MiNDFOOD – for those not able to secure a sought-after ticket.

MiNDFOOD Editor in Chief Michael McHugh is working closely with the Trust and has seen first-hand how the money raised would help families who could only dream of a magical Christmas.

“We are proud to support the Trust and the incredible work they do. As a parent I can only imagine what it would be like for my children to need vital cancer treatment. Because these children live in the Islands they cannot get the level of care we do, so they have to rely on the generosity of others.

“Seeing the medical staff at work in Tonga has been inspiring and we are committed to helping the Trust increase the child cancer survival rates in the Pacific Islands.

“Join me and the MiNDFOOD team on November 4th, as all the money raised will go directly to the charity to help Pacific Island children in need.”

About The World Child Cancer Charitable Trust:

The World Child Cancer Charitable Trust (WCCCT) was established in 2010 in response to the over-whelming need for help in the Pacific to correctly diagnose and treat children with cancer. In its first six years the Auckland-based charity has raised more than $280,000 to help fund medical care for children with cancer in Tonga, Fiji and Samoa.

Prior to 2006 only 50 percent of children with cancer in those nations were being diagnosed and of those, just 20 percent received chemotherapy. In the Pacific, in collaboration with Auckland’s Starship Blood and Cancer Centre and the Children’s Hematology Oncology Centre in Christchurch, The World Child Cancer Charitable Trust works with doctors and nurses in Tonga, Fiji and Samoa to share the knowledge and procedures that have contributed to a 80 percent survival rate of childhood cancer in New Zealand.

Since the introduction of the programme in 2006 there has been considerable progress made in all three countries. As of April 2016:
