Two and a half years ago, then-6-year-old Christian McPhilamy made the decision to grow his hair as long as he could.
Bullied at school by the other children, he suffered years of taunting and name calling, all for a good cause.
Inspired by a St Jude Children’s Research Hospital advertisement, Christian decided to grow his hair so he could donate it – to help make wigs for children with cancer.
“Some people tried to call me a girl” said Christian, which made him feel “not very good”, but he soldiered on, knowing that a little bit of name calling was nothing compared to what these children were going through.
It just goes to show that there is still hope for the next generation.
