These baby seal pups can be found at the Ohau stream just north of Kaikoura, New Zealand.
These fur seals, which are unique to New Zealand, once faced risk of extinction due to sealing and overfishing. Now the population of baby seals swim up to the Ohau stream every winter while their parents go out to sea to hunt for their food.
The babies wait patiently for their parents to return, playing and growing while they prepare themselves to be unleashed into the ‘real world’ once winter is over.
The best time to see these gorgeous seal pups relishing in their new found freedom, is between May and October when hundreds of the pups can be seen frolicking in the water.
