Prince William tackles bullying in new initiative
William and Kate continue their work against bullying by working with new charity in honour of Princess Diana.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been vocal about their devotion to helping the younger generation through various charitable ventures.

The Diana Award, a charity set up in Diana’s name, by the couple, recently conducted a survey that came back with some alarming results .

The online questionnaire found that over half of the young people interviewed, reported receiving negative comments about their appearance, ethnicity or physical racial features.

The findings also highlighted the reach of bullying, stating that an astonishing 76% of children reported experiencing incidences where they didn’t fit in, or were excluded at school for one reason or another.

Earlier this year Prince William took part in an anti-bullying demonstration to raise awareness for the cause, addressing the issue of mental health in young people.

William will meet with experts across the field to establish an anti-bullying program that will see a “Whole School Approach” being initiated throughout Britain’s school system.

“By the end of the day these young people will have the tools and guidance to set up a year-long social action project in their communities, aimed at fostering a better, safe and bully-free environment,” said the charity in a statement released earlier this week.

Chief Executive of Diana Award, Tessy Ojo, said that William’s support will help raise awareness for a nation-wide issue and help foster a safer environment for children everywhere.

“These latest statistics highlight how overwhelming identity-based bullying is for many young people today. I am delighted that The Duke is helping raise awareness of this topical issue and reiterating the message that no one should be singled out as a result of their identity.”
