Meet Kate Middleton’s trusted Midwives
Kate Middleton's great rapport with these midwives paved the way for a smooth entry to an eager world for the new princess.

One of the first and most important decisions women need to make once they discover they’re pregnant is whether to choose an obstetrician or midwives for their antenatal care.  It has been revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, opted for a midwife team to help her bring the newest little princess into the world.

Jacqui Dunkley-Bent who is Professor of Midwifery at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, together with midwife Arona Ahmed delivered the as yet unnamed princess in the exclusive Lindo Wing of the St. Mary’s Hospital. Although their services were not required, the Queen’s royal doctors were on stand-by in case of a medical emergency.

The Duchess is said to have trusted Professor Dunkley, establishing a strong rapport with her following Prince George’s delivery in 2013. The delivery, which took a mere 154 minutes, is widely speculated to have been due to Kate Middleton labouring at home prior to arriving at the hospital.

There has some criticism that the royal second-time parents hadn’t utilized the NHS preferring to be supported by their own carefully selected team. However the Duke and Duchess said that their team’s purpose is to ensure that the care of other public and private patients is not affected by the royal birth.

The princess’ arrival has charmed the world, with everyone waiting with baited breath for the name reveal. Stay tuned!
