Need to catch up? Here are the highlights so far from the Royal trip to India.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are currently on their first official trip to India and Bhutan. The couple are traveled through India and Bhutan for seven days on a whirlwind trip that sees them visit several regions of India from New Delhi to Assam.

The royal couple are spending four days in India before travelling to Bhutan. A royal spokesman has revealed how much they have been looking forward to the trip, saying “The Duke and Duchess are incredibly grateful to have this opportunity to travel to these two beautiful countries.”

The tour will see the Duke and Duchess interact with people from all walks of life, from people in very difficult circumstances, to aspiring and established business leaders, well-known cultural figures, inspiring conservationists, leading politicians, and of course other Royals.

Whilst the tour is still ongoing, here are the highlights from their trip so far.

The couple touched down in Delhi where they paid tribute to those who had died in the 2008 terror attacks at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. They laid a wreath of white flowers as a memorial which read: “In memory of those who lost their lives and those injured in the senseless atrocities at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. William, Catherine.”

William spoke to hotel staff who were present at the hotel during the attack and heard first hand accounts of the atrocities.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge began their first day on tour by visiting the Banganga slums in Mumbai. The pair conversed with the residents, joining in a few games of football with local schoolchildren who revealed later that they had never been visited by politicians before.

The couple then met representatives of the charity SMILE – an organisation that helps encourage skill-building and opportunity for economic growth in impoverished areas like Bangaga.

The Duke and Duchess visited the famous Oval Maidan cricket ground where they were introduced to children from charities such as Magic Bus, Childline and Doorstep.

Bina Sheth Lashkari, who founded the charity Door Step School, told Hello how eager the children had been to meet the royals. She said: “We have shown the children pictures of the Duke and Duchess and where they live. The children know they are going to meet a Prince and Princess and they asked if they are like the Princes and Princesses in fairytales. One of the girls asked if the Princess has big hair, like Rapunzel.”

The Duke and Duchess also visited the historic Banganga Water Tank where they paid tribute to the spiritual surroundings.

Following their trip to the Banganga Water Tank, the royals paid their respects at the India Gate, leaving a message of solidarity and respect that read: “Never forgetting those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for India.”

The couple made a visit to the Gandhi Smriti museum where they viewed the former dwellings, writings and personal effects of Mahatma Gandhi. They paid tribute to the preeminent leaders of Indian independence at the place where he was tragically assassinated.

In Assam’s Kaziranga National Park, a wilderness conservation park, the Duke and Duchess visited majestic Great Indian Rhinos, fed baby elephants and toured the park in a 4 wheel drive.

The couple are now on their way to Bhutan, they stopped on route a mere few hours ago to say hello to school children greeting them on their journey from Paro to Thimpu.
