Green tea improves working memory
Long prized for its health benefits, new research now shows that green tea improves your working memory too.

Long prized for its health benefits, new research now shows that green tea is good for your mind too, enhancing several cognitive functions, the most notable of which was our working memory.

The findings from the University of Basel in Switzerland, are paving the way for new ways to treat dementia and memory loss due to psychiatric disorder treatments, using green tea. By monitoring the brain activity of volunteers through MRI scans, scientists noticed increased connectivity between the parietal and the frontal cortex of the brain, improving the working memories of participants.

“Our findings suggest that green tea might increase the short-term synaptic plasticity of the brain,” study co-author Prof. Borgwardt said.

The results of the study were published in the journal Psychopharmacology.
