Have you ever stared out the window of your office, into the sunshine and wished you could instantly be transported to the nearest park? Well, this latest innovation, from TREExOFFICE might be just what you were looking for.
In collaboration with Groundwork London and the Park Hack project, this new concept is combining co-working spaces with fresh air and sunshine in the most innovative way.
Built around a tree, this pop-up office in London offers a unique working experience with an altruistic vision. The workers who hire desks for the day will be giving back directly to the nature they are inhabiting, whereby the income they raise, will be reinvested into Hackney’s parks and other green spaces.
Offering room for eight workspaces, the TREExOFFICE collaboration is equipped with a power supply and WIFI, meaning that the space is perfect for small meetings, individual workers or intimate events.
Groundwork London is working to reinvigorate the city’s green spaces through the project, aimed at addressing health and wellbeing in the workplace, as well as helping green spaces grow in urban environments.
The structure, stands 4 metres tall and is made of compressed paper, transparent plastic and translucent polycarbonate. The challenge, according to one of the architects, Rory Harmer, of Tate Harmer was “to create a space that is robust, but blurs the boundary between the office and nature.”
For now, TREExOFFICE is still in prototype phase, but the company is hoping to extend their message across the globe with other countries and councils adopting the idea.
