Food For Thought: Cooking for Earth Hour
To celebrate Earth Hour on Saturday March 28 at 8.30pm, a team of the nation’s biggest culinary names are sharing their recipes to help tackle global warming, one meal at a time.

Planet to Plate will incorporate firsthand stories from Australian farmers highlighting the impact global warming is having on their farms. Farmers are on the frontline of global warming and are already feeling the effects of higher temperatures and changing rainfall patterns. Flooding, drought, fires and changes in pests and weeds are affecting the farms that supply 93 per cent of the food we eat.

Anna Rose, national manager of Earth Hour Australia, says that the launch of Planet to Plate is an innovative way to remind us of one of the strongest reasons to take action to tackle global warming: our food. “Besides being a collection of the very best recipes from the country’s top chefs, Planet to Plate will highlight the fact global warming is already affecting produce we enjoy in our everyday lives. Our much-loved farmers are the custodians of the nation’s food bowl and need our support to minimise the harm carbon pollution is having on the supply of fresh food that we are so lucky to enjoy.”

Inspire awareness and change by trying these recipes, by famous chefs, in your own home.
