Audrey Nethery won fans across the world and sent our hearts aflutter when she opened the International Zumba Conference earlier this month.
The 6-year-old showed the room her moves with more confidence than we could ever hope to achieve.
Audrey’s plight is made all the more courageous by the fact that she is battling a rare bone marrow disease that limits her growth. The disease, called Diamond-Blackfan anemia (DBA), means that Audrey’s bone marrow doesn’t produce adequate amounts of red blood cells, which can cause heart murmurs and kidney defects.
Her mother, Julie Haise, set up a Facebook page for Audrey with the aim of raising awareness for the rare bone marrow failure syndrome.

After Zumba discovered the tiny talent enjoying her weekly sessions, they decided to feature her moves in their International Conference to help bring attention to DBA.
“Every time I see her dance, even when it’s just in her class, it makes me cry, but seeing her up on that stage was incredible,” Haise said. “When she’s dancing, she’s happy and brings so much joy to everyone watching.”
