Karl Lagerfeld did the unexpected at yesterday’s Chanel A/W 16-17 runway – he eschewed the theatrical sets he’s become synonymous with (in the past we’ve been treated to a life-size Chanel dollhouse, a Chanel airport and casino)  in favour of a stripped back interpretation of an old-timey salon.

Lagerfeld’s show was not without a twist – the creative mind behind Chanel presented the collection in such a manner that every single one of to the 2,000 guests who attended the show, held at the Grand Palais, were seated front row. Almost 100 looks were paraded down the runway, so we’ve carefully curated an assortment of our favourite pieces below.
