Karl Lagerfeld did the unexpected at yesterday’s Chanel A/W 16-17 runway – he eschewed the theatrical sets he’s become synonymous with (in the past we’ve been treated to a life-size Chanel dollhouse, a Chanel airport and casino) in favour of a stripped back interpretation of an old-timey salon.
Lagerfeld’s show was not without a twist – the creative mind behind Chanel presented the collection in such a manner that every single one of to the 2,000 guests who attended the show, held at the Grand Palais, were seated front row.
