Long Weekend Markets – foodie and culture fix sorted

Although the weather is getting cooler, there is still plenty to do to fill in lazy Sunday mornings. This June long weekend, MiNDFOOD recommends you visit one of these three markets to get your weekly fix of food, fashion and culture.

After 33 years, the Miller Street Market is coming to an end. The last market is being held this Saturday, June 11th. Stallholders will bring both new and loyal market goers seasonal fruit and vege, handmade artisan products, homemade jams, olive oils, original arts, books, potted plants and fresh flowers. Live music will set the atmosphere for celebrating the end of an era.

Palm Beach Long Weekend Market

The spectacular backdrop and local brunch-serving cafes are enough to visit this beautiful part of Sydney. However, the local markets offer a wide choice of high quality homewares, fashion and jewellery. If you have been before you will want to return for the introduction of specialist food items including artisan bread and local cheeses. These markets were traditionally open in summer however now are now featured year round due to popular demand.

Wollombi Markets, Hunter Valley

If you are looking to venture out a little further, a visit to Wollombi Markets is worth the drive. These markets are open four times per year, run by volunteers and house over 100 stalls. The markets are surrounded by local boutique wineries and showcase local produce and crafts, plants and fashion items. Beyond the markets, a trip to the Wollombi General Store or the Wollombi Tavern are worth visiting for a delicious ‘home-grown’ feast.
