A new era of Dior was ushered in on the Spring/Summer 2017 catwalk as creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri made her debut with a fierce ode to femininity sent down the runway. Chiuri’s appointment breaks with tradition as men have long shaped the femininity of the French fashion house – Chiuri follows in the footsteps of Raf Simmons, John Galliano, Gianfranco Ferré, and Yves Saint Laurent.

To bring the collection life Chiuri fused couture elements with sport-inspired silhouettes; the collection was inspired by fencing, a sport Chiuri believes takes both heart and mind – an approach she says she takes to the art of fashion. “There’s a new way to be rock ‘n’ roll,” Chiuri told Business of Fashion editor-at-large, Tim Blanks. “Females want to be strong and beautiful.”
