Watch the spinetingling moment the entire school did a haka in a tribute for a favourite teacher

Over 1,700 students, in fact the entire school body at Palmerston North who were devastated to hear about the passing of a favourite teacher, Mr Dawson Tamatea. Their reaction? To perform a spine-tingling haka as a befitting send off.

The students performed the haka as their teacher Mr. Tamatea’s hearse entered the school grounds. Watch the video for all the spectacular feels – you can sense the great respect and love the students had Mr. Tamatea. The teacher had died in his sleep.

Headmaster David Bovey said, ‘Dawson had a fantastic relationship with the boys and the staff at the school. He will leave a huge hole here’.

This is proof that a good teacher certainly makes an impact.
