Intrepid students raise money for mental health centres
In an incredible initiative to raise funds for mental health centres across Australia, three students are planning the best 25 hours of their life.

Triple J’s Dr Karl, 702 presenter and comedian Adam Spencer, TEDx presenter and legal academic Dr Justine Rogers, and The Chaser’s Chas Licciardello are just some of the guests who will join Sydney University’s radio station SURG FM on October 13th and 14th, 2015 for a 25 Hour Marathon Charity Broadcast to raise money for youth mental health services.

The live broadcast will take place as part of the University of Sydney’s Verge Festival. Three intrepid student presenters, Max Schintler, Alexandra Mildenhall and Alex Tighe have volunteered to take to the air for 25 hours of non-stop student radio to raise money for headspace youth mental health centres. Proudly supported by the University of Sydney Union, this event will run from 1pm on October 13th until 2pm on October 14th at the University of Sydney’s Jane Foss Russell Plaza.

SURGE FM President Max Schintler said: ”The event is going to be about having fun but it is also an important opportunity to stimulate discussion about issues facing young Australians today, and raise funds for an important service for young people.”

All funds raised will go towards providing free or low cost frontline mental health support for young Australians aged 12 to 25. Headspace Camperdown spokesperson said: “It is so great to see young people like the Surg FM team supporting their peers with this event.”
