Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff has denounced her removal from her post as a “farce” and “sabotage”.

Brazil’s senate voted in favour of an impeachment trial yesterday and Rousseff was stood down from her post immediately. She is accused of illegally manipulating finances to hide a growing public deficit ahead of her re-election in 2014. It is a charge she denies.

In her final speech on Thursday afternoon, she again denied the allegations and vowed to fight what she called an “injustice” by all legal means.

Michel Temer, the vice-president, has been made interim president. Rousseff has accused him of a coup.

He addressed the nation soon after the senate vote.

“Trust in me… trust in the values of our people and in our ability to recover the economy,” Temer said.

According to the BBC  Temer has named a business-friendly cabinet
