“I’m OK Mum, can’t talk”- son’s chilling text from Lindt cafe siege
"I'm OK Mum, can't talk." Read one man's chilling texts to his mother from inside the Lindt Cafe siege.

The mother of a hostage who was held captive during the Lindt café siege in Martin Place in Sydney yesterday has told 2GB radio that her heart stopped when she received a text from her son to say he was in the café getting a coffee.

“Mum, I’m in the Lindt café in Sydney,” read the text, which was received at 3pm.

“My heart stopped, I sent back a text message: ‘What is going on? Are you OK?’,” she told 2GB.

He replied with “I’m OK mum, can’t talk.

The Mum, known as Mel to 2GB, replied that was the last time she heard from her son, a local apprentice plumber.

The siege ended dramatically early this morning when armed police stormed the Lindt Cafe in Martin Place at 2.03am. Two hostages and the gunman have all been confirmed dead. Read more here.
