Game, Set, Match … Pamper

Game, Set, Match … Pamper
Australian natural skincare brand Jurlique partners with the Australian Open in Melbourne to bring punters a unique place for pampering between sets.

Going to the Australian Open is one of those experiences that everyone loves – for tennis fans, there are indoor and outdoor games from up-and-coming stars as well as the world’s greats; for those who know nothing about the sport, there’s plenty of off-court entertainment as well.

In addition to grassy alfresco bars and restaurants, the event this year has a new attraction: the intimate Jurlique Spa Lounge, where you can indulge in a pre- or post-match spot of pampering in a blissfully serene setting. And believe me – on a scorching hot day, there’s nothing better than slipping into this relaxing haven and enjoying a treatment, many of them super-speedy so you can slip in an out between games or sets.

Stepping into the Spa Lounge is instantly calming, with treatment areas shrouded by silky material, the scent of Jurlique rose in the air.

I’m booked in for the 30-minute “Revive Hand And Foot Ritual”, which begins with a foot soak with my choice of products – jasmine, citrus or rose. While I soak, my therapist massages the rich Jurlique cream into my hands, wrapping them in towels when she moves on to my feet. It’s a truly special way to start – or end – the day.

Other menu highlights include the “Cool Jade Eye Treatment” – a snappy 15-minute eye massage using cooling jade stone rollers to help firm, reduce puffiness and brighten your eyes – and the 30-minute “Revitalising Discovery Facial” – the ultimate treatment to protect your skin from the harsh Australian sun while giving your skin an instant lift and glow.

If you have a bit more time on your hands, there are also two 45-minute facials available: the “Aromatherapy Escape”, which combines an aromatherapeutic compress, exfoliation, massage and mask using Jurlique’s signature blend of plant oils and herbal extracts, and the “Nourish and Repair Spa Facial”, which focuses on anti-ageing botanicals to boost skin’s vitality and restore radiance.

And if you’re inspired by your treatment, then you can pick up your favourite Jurlique products to take home when you leave.

It’s such a perfect interlude to the tennis that I’m surprised when my therapist tells me this is the first year that the Jurlique Spa Lounge has been courtside – I wonder why no-one has thought of doing this before? Regardless – I know it will be such a hit that it will be back again.

The Australian Open runs until January 31. To book a treatment at the on-site Jurlique Spa Lounge, call 1800 233 200 or visit the website here.
