Angelina Jolie to step into teaching role
Why Angelina Jolie's latest venture could be the most important role she will ever play.

The London School of Economics has today announced their newest masters course as well as the appointment of Angelina Jolie-Pitt as a visiting professor.

The course will be run by the school’s Centre for Women, Peace and Security, which was co-founded by Jolie and Lord William Hague in 2015.

The pair have also collaborated on various social issues, namely co-founding a global initiative to tackle sexual violence in conflict zones. The partnership saw the UN special envoy and former Conservative party leader, team up to encourage states to actively bring perpetrators of sexual violence to justice.

Jane Connors, director of international advocacy at Amnesty International Geneva, and Madeleine Reese, secretary general of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, will also be joining the London School of Economics as visiting professors.

In a statement, Ms Jolie said: “It is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance women’s rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict.”

“I am looking forward to teaching and to learning from the students, as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the UN.”

The LSE says that visiting professors will be responsible for delivering guest lectures, participating in workshops and public events and also undertaking their own research and coursework.
