Many people believe that endless sit-ups are the fastest way to achieve great abs. In reality, these 'moving' resistance exercises strengthen the abdominal muscles under body fat, but have little effect on the way you look. 

Cardio exercise will help with overall fat reduction, but if you want to tone your tummy, try doing 'non-moving' exercises like the plank (see photo opposite), performed on knees or toes. 

Not only do these exercises strengthen the abs, but they dramatically improve posture too.
