See, here's me with my philosophy glasses!
Well here I am on my first day back at work after holidays. After taking a few minutes to remember where the computer ON button was and making four cups of procrastination tea, I'm staring down the barrel of an inbox that is almost threatening to physically hurt me. Eeek! So last night I psyched myself up for the scales after my two week hiatus and had a mental dialogue with myself that sounded like this...
Me: "Go on, get on!"
The Other Me: "No! Wait till tomorrow morning, you'll be lighter."
Me: "Nope, just suck it up princess. You ate all that cheese in the Hunter Valley now deal with it."
The Other Me: "I can't - I won't! Don't make me!
Me: "But think, even if you are heavier now, the next weigh in will be an ever bigger loss."
Me: "Ohhh! I like it! You're so smart
The Other Me." So I got on and weighed in at 77. Not so bad. I only gained 200g over the two weeks. I'm a sucker for a New Years Resolution and every year make a huge list. Mind you, I never cross them all off. Last year I wanted to learn the entire dance to Thriller but only made it to the first minute. The year before I wanted to be able to run 5km. Two years later I'm still on week five of the Couch to 5k challenge.
That Robert Ullery guy.... "Keep going, you're doing great!" Urrgh! So this year I've decided to make one simple and easy resolution. To embrace each and every day. That's it. Simple and it can mean a number of things - all in a positive ray of light of course!
So at the end of the day, before I go to bed, I'm going to think about something positive that I learned or achieved that day. It may be something as simple as walking to the coffee shop instead of driving, or cooking up a mean chicken stirfy instead of take out fish n chips, to spending time with friends who make you feel great. It's all about those little things in life that make you happy, which in return make you feel more focused on being a better you, which for me, means a slimmer and healthier me!
