One of New Zealand's favourite holiday islands is to add a luxury resort with a vineyard and spa.
The Langham Place Vineyard Resort + Spa, Waiheke Island, will have an international five star rating, 78 condominium-style rooms and suites, its own Chuan Spa, state-of-the-art gym, tennis courts, a restaurant and extensive meeting and banquet facilities for up to 300 people.
Designed by one of New Zealand’s leading hotel architects, CDA Architecture, it will be situated in the heart of Isola Estate’s vineyards on Waiheke Island, which is a 30-minute ferry ride or eight minute helicopter ride from down town Auckland city.
"Langham Place Vineyard Resort + Spa, Waiheke Island will be the Martha’s Vineyard of the South Pacific. The resort will create a new dynamism to the economy of Waiheke Island, being a five star boutique, wine-based hospitality business,” said Brent Gibson, Managing Director of Isola Estate.
The island resort will also house an interactive wine theatre, to be used for special events.
Langham Hotels International is currently on four continents with 15 properties currently, both open and under construction. The Langham hotel group dates back to 1865 when the first Langham opened in London.
The Langham Place Vineyard Resort + Space, Waiheke Island, is scheduled to open in 2010.
