Hospital-comedy "OOH BABY BABY!" offers a rollicking good time.
BY Alicia Hamilton | Aug 17, 2009

OOH BABY BABY! is a new production that explores the funny side of fertility (and the not so funny side, for that matter). The play blends comedy, aerial dance, acrobatic theatre and innovative design, and promises to offer audiences a rollicking good time.

The husband of director Margaret-Mary Hollins' described the play as "ER on acid" when he saw a workshop run of the production. The phrase has stuck. Hollins says of medical dramas: "I've watched ER and Gray's Anatomy but you don’t have to watch many episodes to understand the formula and that world. "

Hollins believes that OOH BABY BABY! is close to her reality. "I have a son, his name is Milligan. My story is in there – you can find me in the longing character played by Beth [theatre practitioner]. I had Milligan at 40, it took ages to conceive and it was one of the hardest, out-of-control times of my life," she says.

When: August 20-30, 2009.

Where: Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall.
