Q&A with Aerin Lauder

of Estée Lauder, Aerin Lauder takes us behind the scenes of the Sensuous campaign.

Why did you decide to use four models for the Sensuous advertising campaign?

We wanted to communicate that women can be sensual at any age. Each of our models represents a different side of sensuality. Hilary [Rhoda] conveys youth while Carolyn's [Murphy] classic look communicates elegance. As an actor, Gwyneth [Paltrow] brings an emotional range to sensuality, and Elizabeth [Hurley] portrays confidence.

What was the inspiration behind the advertising campaign?

The concept for the fragrance was about evoking the warmest, most feminine side 
of a woman and the advertising was 
inspired by the belief that women at every 
age can be sensuous.

How will the ads be used around the world?

All four models will be featured at our counters and in our magazine advertising. In some cases the models may be separated to match the demographics of a particular magazine.

Why did you choose the white shirt?

A classic white shirt is a universally recognised sign of elegance and style. 
In the ad campaign there’s a bit of mystery behind the shirt – you don’t know if it’s hers, her boyfriend’s or her husband’s. All four models felt comfortable on set in the shirt.
