The new face of dentistry: Dental Spa
The words “spa, luxury and comfort” all match perfectly. Remarkably, so does the word “dental”.
Dec 09, 2008

New Zealand’s first dental and oral health spa opened two-and-a-half years ago and has gained international recognition and local media and TV attention. It’s the destination for many stars and celebrities for their oral wellbeing and cosmetic makeovers.

The spa is so unique that dentists
from around the world, including the
US, Europe and Australasia, come to learn how modern dentistry is done and to admire the beauty, design and comfort features of this internationally renowned state-of-the-art spa.

Auckland dentist Dr Hisham conceived the idea of moving beyond dentistry to the realm of holistic wellbeing – in luxury. The spa’s technology, designer fit-out, architectural flow, relaxation suite, iPod movies on virtual LCD glasses, soothing aromas, music and people who serve you were all planned with one goal in mind: to help guests feel better, look better, be better.

You know it’s a dental spa, not because they say so but because they do it totally differently here. You’re welcomed into
the Italian bergamot and cedarwood scented dental spa by a smiling concierge (not a receptionist).

They’re also the ones who have changed the lingo of their profession: here you’re a valued guest (not a patient); you’re served barista coffee, herbal teas, exotic juices and minted water in the front lounge (not a waiting room); and you’re whisked to a relaxation suite (the first of its kind) with its cosy chaise lounges, fluffy robes, warm blankets and dimmed lighting. That’ll make you want to stay. They even look after your car with valet parking during
a longer appointment. Oh, and before you leave, please enjoy the warm lavender-infused luxury towel.

The dentistry is as good as it can get
by worldwide standards. The ultimate laser and computerised dental technology, best hygiene standards (all beautifully displayed in a unique circular hall, which is a design marvel in itself) and sedation, or “comfort sleep dentistry”, are all things that seem almost too good to be true, but they are real – in Auckland, New Zealand. Yes baby,
it’s a whole new world.

The spa’s vision statement says it all: “We envisage a world full of healthy, happy people. We strive to positively contribute to our society and the world by providing exceptional service in a relaxed environment to appreciative guests. We aim to empower our guests, our colleagues and ourselves
with health, properly applied knowledge
and enduring experiences. Prosperous societies only come about through education, passion and sharing inspiration.”
