EXCLUSIVE: CATE BLANCHETT AND ANDREW UPTON
When Blanchett and Upton returned to Sydney from England in 2008 to take up their roles as Co-Artistic Directors of the Sydney Theatre Company, they announced an ambitious parallel vision to make the heritage building which houses the Company into an exemplar of sustainability. “We know this building itself was – as culture often is – a real reinvigorator of this area when it was opened in the ‘80s,” says Upton. The opportunity to use the building once again to spark debate around the acute issue for contemporary culture – global warming – was compelling.
In the October issue, MiNFOOD speaks with Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett and her husband, playwright Andrew Upton, about their views on climate change, working together and creating a green legacy.
