Who is
the Big Stretch for?
People who are at a turning point – often, quite successful, “can do” types – who want to tune in to their life purpose, make a difference in the world or make the most of their strengths. They are individuals with ideas they want to kick-start into action.
Why is it important for people to stop and reassess their lives?
There’s so much richness and fulfilment to be had when we express who we are through what we’re doing. We tend
to embark on a particular track in life and then it seems easier to continue that path than to ask what we would really love [to be doing]. However, when people get in touch with strong inner desires, they discover fresh reserves of creativity and
the momentum to make things happen.
Why did you choose the remote Picos mountains in Spain as the destination for the coaching week?
Walking up mountains and kayaking in rivers puts the brain in alpha state. This means that while people are outdoors, soaking in the stunning landscapes, their brains are incubating all the thoughts stirred up by their coaching in the morning.
It’s the most effortless, high-spirited context I know for tackling big questions.
Also, the villages are undeveloped and tumbledown – a great contrast to the assault of neon signs and advertising that clutters our minds. The rustic food and rioja [wine] are delicious, too.
What does the week involve?
Each morning there’s coaching and creative thinking, which helps us explore our dreams, our views of the world and the nitty-gritty of creating positive change in our lives. By lunchtime we’re pulling on the hiking gear and heading to the mountains for picnics and guided hikes on peaks, gorges, meadows and beaches. Returning each night to our comfortable hotel, we relax and reflect in our private jacuzzi. By night, we go out
to restaurants in cider farms and fishing ports.
How should someone expect to feel after the Big Stretch?
Participants say it leaves them feeling clear about their values, inspired for action and equipped with a detailed, time-based plan. They are free of “baggage” and their excitement is childlike.
What’s your philosophy of life?
If you discover your passions you’ll never do another day’s work in your life.
